DESIGN+BUILD Shanghai Exhibition Center

This Fall, at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, DESIGN+BUILD is primed to deliver a fresh take on the classic theme of premium styles for interior décor. The industry event will also incorporate key elements of green lighting and wood-plastic composites.

With the rebrand of what was formerly 100% Design Shanghai/IHDD, Reed Exhibitions is significantly bolstering its burgeoning lifestyle portfolio through this mega interior design event. From November 14 to November 16, this integrated platform will span over 20,000 sqm, with 350 exhibitors displaying original designs of furniture, lighting, materials, bathroom/kitchen, floor/wall coverings, smart home and office fittings to 15,000 attendees.

The show promises to deliver immense value as the only expo in China to offer a total range of integrated solutions - running a comprehensive series of high-level conferences alongside the display items. This is the premiere sourcing and network platform for exhibitors to interact, conduct business with interior designers, architects, property developers, retailers, and key specifiers/buyers for the hospitality industry.

"For Reed Exhibitions, this relaunched show represents an important step forward in our expansion strategy", explains Josephine Lee, Senior VP of Reed Exhibitions Greater China. "Under the name 'DESIGN+BUILD' we've created a dynamic international trade fair format aimed at the China market. The range of designs, products and wood-plastic composites on show make this a premium platform for companies across the world seeking access to this market, as well as for local Chinese firms keen to explore the international arena."

There are two exciting events held during DESIGN+BUILD -- they are Andrew Martin International Interior Design Award and Haworth 100% Young Designer Award. Two further value-enhancing forums will be integrated:

100% Workspace forum – themed around "Constructing a Better Work Environment", this highlight will promote the creation of more efficient designs to make workspaces more pleasant. The design is also geared towards improving efficiency and facilitating healthier lifestyles. At the forum, popular designers and high profile architects will share insights into cutting-edge design. Business owners and employers will also present their successful workspace solutions.

100% Retail Space forum - another show highlight, this forum will feature famous international architects and designers from commercial real estate, retail and shopping malls, as well as world-class suppliers of retail space and furniture, to demonstrate how to construct a better selling area. These professionals will also share their valuable experience with visitors. Organized by Reed Exhibitions and supported by well-known sponsors, this feature will offer a unique retail design concepts, and give a taste of just how human-oriented design can be to retail space.

To meet market demand for modern commercial lighting, Green Lighting Expo, a commercial lighting forum co-organized by Reed Exhibitions and Luce & Design magazine, will explore modern hotel lighting, office lighting and building exterior lighting programs. Here, outstanding designers will share their view of the application and role of light in different scenarios. This will be a premium platform for in-depth discussion around how best to meet the purchasing demand of property owners, management companies, hotel directors in charge of purchasing, lighting designers, architects and interior designers. For hotel lighting, this forum will look at how to create better lighting atmospheres and demonstrate a hotel's brand features through lighting in key areas. It will also examine the roles of property owners, management companies and designers. Among the questions to be explored: How can the best lighting effects be achieved while effectively controlling cost? For office lighting, what are the advantages of LED? What, if any, problems are encountered at practical operation? As to exterior building lighting, what lighting program should be in use to highlight architectural logos and efficiently save energy?

Confidence for DESIGN+BUILD 2013 is high among organizers and participants. This is largely because of the confirmed promotion of an immense array of new products, as well as several first-time exhibitors to the show. One such company, OPTILED (owned by Huizhou Light Engine Limited), is a leading brand of LED lighting products for the full range of functional lighting applications. As it pursues its mission to develop green lighting solutions that cut operating costs, improve productivity and alleviate the world's most pressing eco-challenges, OPTILED is pioneering a new era of environment and people friendly LED lighting.

Jiangxi Huateng Carpet Industrial Park. (CTTCC) - this major Chinese enterprise has Asia's largest production capacity for carpet tiles and is one of the most highly rated manufacturers in the country. CTTCC's main products are middle and high-end carpet tiles and broadloom carpet – all of which are made to the company's strict quality standards, using premium raw materials.

DESIGN+BUILD 2013 promises visitors a number of captivating highlights through the broad array of new products that will be unveiled on-site. OPTILED's indoor & Outdoor lighting Flexi-Pro 8000 and Flexi-Pro 8000 High Brightness series are set to illuminate the show floor, together with their Dimmable Array-MX 800 and S500 GU5.3 lights.

Apart from lighting, Jiangxi Huateng Carpet Industrial Park will unveil Twilight, Bordeaux, Provence and Elysée designs. All of which borrow from nature to create diverse, visually dynamic landscape effects that turn indoor spaces into elegant arenas for work or leisure.

Sunflower International Trading will showcase its Sunlite HPL – one of multiple products to be on display. The first ISO-certified HPL manufacturer in Asia will show off "Embossed" and "Sawcut" finishes, the latest series in a 20-surface selection. The surfaces give designers a simple wood finish effect and come in a selection of seven sizes.

Giving the event a distinct European flair, French company Oberflex will use this unique Chinese platform to launch a new collection of acoustic wall panels: Obersound 5.5. This conceptual and technical creation provokes a heightened awareness of climate, skin, flora, couture and vibrations.

Glen Raven Asia will challenge the boundaries of beauty and utility for fabric. Sunbrella and Dickson, the company's highest profile brand, is renowned the world over as the premier performance fabric for awnings, furniture, marine applications and convertible tops. More of Glen Raven Asia's state of-the-art fabric solutions will be on full display on the DESIGN+BUILD show floor.

With Shanghai being the cultural and economic heart of Mainland China, geographically advantageous DESIGN+BUILD 2013 is powerfully positioned to provide participants with strong links to the all-important China market, as well as to SE Asia as a whole. Further, the Shanghai Exhibition Center is one of the country's most modern expo venues, with a state-of-the-art, well-connected infrastructure that offers outstanding conditions for exhibitors and visitors alike.
